Essential Oils That Help Support Emotional Health
I am the first to state that walking this path alone without mental health support can be very lonely and in some cases, dangerous. It is important to know when to get professional counseling help and to not wait until symptoms are out of control or scary. Tips in this section are not designed to be a substitute for medical or therapeutic help. Taking these tips to your doctor to discuss them is a GREAT idea.
Mood Elevating Blend
The company that I use has a wonderful Mood Elevating Blend (find out how to buy this blend here) that I personally add to my foot butter recipe (find that recipe here) and use daily. You could try this idea and also make a rollerball blend to apply as needed to your wrists, back of the neck or big toe throughout the day. I personally would put 40 drops of the blend in a 10 ml bottle and then top it off with fractionated coconut oil. Dilute more for a child or the elderly.
Citrus Oils for Mood Support
Citrus oils can also be wonderful mood lifters. Try adding a few drops of a Citrus Blend (find out how to buy this blend here) to your diffuser. Add Peppermint to the blend to add a little pep and energy to your mood too.
Here is a really cool video to watch (just make sure you come back here!). Vanderbilt hospital shows us what can happen when citrus oils are diffused in a hospital E.R. Not only can they help elevate the mood, but they can also help introduce calm (check out another post about using Wild Orange for calming right here).
Oil Blends for Emotional Balance
When the citrus family is not enough to balance out the jumpy feelings, sometimes mixing a couple of blends together is just enough to create the calm you are looking for (check out a great recipe idea here). As you can already see, essential oils can provide AMAZING support (ask me how to order your own oils at wholesale prices here).
Can’t Sleep? Try Using Essential Oils to Improve Sleep
After giving a sleep plan a try, essential oils can provide more support. One of the simplest oils to try for sleep is Lavender. Try adding a few drops of Lavender to a diffuser. A mixture of Cedarwood and Bergamot can be truly amazing (this post gives great recipes). Helping balance out sleeping needs can really help give the body what it needs to heal and grow.
Seasonal Changes Impacting Symptoms
For adults with acute needs, adding 2 drops each of LLP to a veggie capsule can allow this mixture to be taken internally. Taking essential oils internally is a personal choice. The brand I choose is certified pure and of therapeutic grade. I would not trust any label as an internal solution (ask me more here). Controlling the impact that seasonal changes can make on the body and symptoms can be such a help.
After switching companies, I realized the potency shift from moderately potent (which at the time I thought was REALLY potent) to therapeutic grade potency. Drop for drop I can now tell the difference. The health of my family members is the biggest testimony.
Always remember that essential oils have the power to overcome bacteria, germs, viruses, etc. Lyme suffers know that herxing is real. My personal disclaimer is to listen to your body to determine if the oils are speaking to the infection directly. Do not allow your body to herx without first checking with your doctor to see if these oils are right for your protocol. The blends chosen above were picked because they tend to be gentle, however every body is different. As a Lyme sufferer, you are probably already good at listening…I just have to say it out loud.
How to Purchase Essential Oils
We are careful not to sell oils directly to current clients. If you are interested, please reach out and we will be sure to introduce you to someone other than your personal therapist who will help guide you through your essential oil journey. Essential oils can really make therapy more efficient by helping you achieve calm at home and during session.
