Emotional & Mental Support for Lyme & Co, PANDAS & PANS

The mental and emotional impact that Lyme & co, PANDAS & other infections can create can be astounding. Getting counseling help from clinicians who get it is so important. Why?
I (Gabrielle Anderon) had my private practice in a suite with a Lyme Literate Doctor for seven years. During that time, she referred some of her patients, both young and old to me when their encephalitis and other infectious related symptoms interfered with normal emotional, social and mental health related tasks and activities. The formula and recipe of emotional disfunction shocked and confused me. Why is a CEO of a company having panic attacks before meetings? Is this little guy really hallucinating? And it's because of infection? Her paranoia feels so real, yet she's an accomplished adult...what's going on? SO I read and read and read. Then I became diagnosed...and my children and husband were diagnosed. Then I LIVED the darkness that is Lyme and Co and watched as it took down my loved ones.
You were drawn to this website for a reason. That doesn't even mean we are the right fit for you. Puruse the sight and see if our tone and philosophies might work for you. I am SO grateful that I worked with the LLD and that I became knowledgable about the infections. What if I didn't? I shudder to think about where my kids would be today. Both hallucinated while in treatment. I was paranoid, anxious and had unsolicited depression come in in waves. My infection mostly attacked my internal organs...while my husband's attacked his brain. My little one struggled to walk and run, but we ALL had emotional and mental impact.
Having a counseling therapist who understands what encephalitis, the need to detox and infection itself can do to the emotional health is priceless. It is important that the therapist you are working with understands these issues, because pathologizing and mis-diagnosing a symptom that will wane with treatment is very different from diagnosing a disorder as if it is a part of you forever. Getting to the source of the symptoms is important and we understand that.
Here is a video of one family's walk through PANDAS. Keep i mind that it usually takes a lot longer for most kids to get better than this video portrays.
