Below are Examples of Issues Clients Reach out to us for Play & Art Therapy
Your Child: Therapy for Anxiety, Panic & Depression
Anxiety, panic, worry thoughts, separation anxiety and depression can look differently in different children. Some internalize the feelings and get withdrawn or visibly anxious, while other externalize the symptoms and they show up in the child's behavior.
We believe in teaching kiddos to calm their bodies both in session (unless they are really young) but most importantly, we teach YOU the parent tips to introduce calm. Sometimes this is via videos to watch, podcasts to listen to, breathing exercises for your child to practice, use of essential oils and other natural remedies, etc.
Your Child: Therapy for Divorce and Other Life Changes
As much as you plan and try to protect your children, life happens. Unexpected or really big changes can cause distress in a child. Helping your child organize and release these feelings can be a gift both for their nervous system as well as your peace of mind. Our therapists utilize a playful or creative approach to release pain and discomfort whenever possible. If family therapy seems necessary, we have skilled family therapists as well. We have you covered! Please keep in mind that we do NOT specialize in high conflict divorce. Some counseling practices do. Our therapists charge a lot to attend court. We do our best to deter going to court and instead make every attempt to keep the focus on the healing of the child.

Your Child: Therapy for Chronic or Unexpected Illness
We have many therapists in the practice with an interest in chronic illness. Whether it be Lyme disease, PANS/PANDAS (yes we are PANS/PANDAS literate), cancer, lupus, Chrons or other illnesses, we are here to help. Having a therapist help navigate the challenges AND help you the parent find your strength can be priceless. Make sure you check out our meditation classes that are specific to chronic illness even if you are not the one ill. We teach energy healing and other helpful skills.
Your Child: Therapy for Trauma
Trauma can be multi-layered and often needs more than one approach to healing. Calming the body and nervous system is foundational. Play therapy, sand tray therapy and art therapy help little ones heal in a safe and gentle way. Children can heal the darkest of traumas and still have fun in session. We even have therapists well versed in essential oils and energy healing if you want to supplement with these healing modalities as well.
Parents of a traumatized child, we see you and know this is HARD on you too. Please take care of yourself through this process. This could be participating in nurturing meditation for stress and anxiety reduction or individual therapy yourself.

Your Child: Therapy to Assist with Neuro-Diversity & Sensory Related Issues
Whether your child is exhibiting symptoms or a diagnosis of autism, ADHD, sensory processing, etc we are here to help. Although some of the children we see also have other professionals involved (executive functioning coaches, occupational therapists, tutors, etc) we have seen therapy help children REGULATE their emotions and learn better social cues/skills.
If your child is old enough, they will learn about their nervous systems and how better understand their body so that they can calm themselves down. We will also teach YOU the parent tips to introduce calm. Sometimes this is via videos to watch, podcasts to listen to, breathing exercises for your child to practice, use of essential oils and other natural remedies, etc.

Your Child: Therapy for Eating Disorders
Whether your child struggles with disordered eating or a diagnosed eating disorder that has taken over large portions of his/her identity, a multi-layered approach to therapy can help. Out therapists like to work with your doctor or nutritionist when possible to allow your healing to reach deeper than your emotional health.
Your Child: We are a Safe Place for the LGBTQIA+ Community
Whether your child is struggling to navigate issues relating to being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or their issues are unrelated but their identity lies within this spectrum, we are here to help. Many of our therapists have personal experience in their own lives and/or have taken trainings to best understand and help. Your child's personal pronouns are important to us, so please be sure to share this preference with your child's therapist.
