SSP: Safely Rewire Your Nervous System Through Scientifically Filtered Music
FAQ for the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
Q: What Does the SSP Listening Program Feel Like?
A: Because the SSP stimulates the Vagus Nerve, middle ear and other cranial nerves, participants often feel it working. It is important for the client to GO SLOW and not overwhelm the nervous system.
The trained professional administering the SSP (which will then be the client or parent at home)
will watch for indicators that the nervous system is receiving stimuli and will pause the program after the participant experiences one (or more) of the following:

- Warmth, tingling or mild discomfort (temporarily) in the ear or forehead
- A yawn, sigh, eye lid flutter, burp, tummy gurgle or giggle
- New temporary tension, emotion or tearfulness
Q: I already have a therapist (or am not seeing one at all). Do I have to see one of your therapists for therapy in order to do the SSP?
A: No. You do not have to be a therapy client of ours to receive the SSP. SSP is not counseling therapy. If you are currently in therapy in another practice, you can receive SSP with us and still keep your previous provider.
Q: When will I see results?
A: Some see results after the first session, while others see results farther into the program. Clients will take pre-tests and post-tests to help gauge progress. Changes in the nervous system are still occurring a month after completing the SSP. Post tests are scheduled a month after completing the program to help monitor success. Some report dramatic changes while others are more subtle.
Q: How often can the SSP be repeated?
A: If needed, the SSP may be completed again in 6 weeks using the same method as before.
Q: Does insurance cover the SSP? What about Health Savings and Flex accounts?
A: If the SSP is utilized DURING a therapy session, the session itself can be coded for therapy. The SSP in this scenario is seen as a tool being used during session. Sessions that only include SSP administration can not be coded for insurance reimbursement. Health Savings account and Flexible Spending account cards can be used to help cover the expenses of the SSP program.

The Safe & Sound Protocol: Costs & Good Faith Estimate
COST: $200/mo for the duration of the SSP program
Fees for the SSP go towards SSP certification, collaboration the therapist may need to do to offer sound treatment, access to the music list, software and app as well as the provider’s time spent. Pre and post tests are also included to measure symptoms and success.
The SSP is flexible and can be adjusted to the rhythm and flow of each unique nervous system. Some nervous systems tone rather quickly, while others need a slower approach.
The SSP is a five hour program, broken into smaller daily segments. Because the SSP works at toning the nervous system, some find that daily 15 minute sessions are just right while others are more successful with 2-3 minutes or even 30 seconds, a few times a week.
NOTE: If your therapist is trained in SSP, you may qualify for a discounted rate. Inquire within.
