Play Therapy Trainings for RPT and RPT-S Credentials
From the Brainstem Through the Cortex:
An Organized Attachment Based Look at Anger in the Playroom (3 CONTACT APT Hours)
Description
An angry child is often a misunderstood child. As play therapists, it is important to become curious as to why a child might be angry. After taking this training, you will be able to describe a bottom-up, attachment based approach to seeking to understand anger in a play therapy client. You will be able to describe the nervous system, mid-brain and high brain involvement and why this can impact your understanding of a play therapy client's anger. Come prepared to write and draw as you too will practice some of the play therapy strategies that can be utilized in a play therapy session. Explore the piece that attachment and undiagnosed brain impacting infections may have and walk away with tangible things to discuss with parents.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
Describe the Vagus Nerve’s impact on calming the body
Describe the body’s response to stress hormones
Identity parts of the limbic system
Identify why cognitive strategies might not work right away in a play therapy client
Describe at lease 2 medically or biologically driven factors for anger in a play therapy client
