A Quick Overview of the RPT Credential Requirements & Play Therapy Supervision Offered
APT has implemented a new THREE PHASE system, wherein play therapists are now required to obtain play therapy CEs at the same time that they practice AND are seen for supervision and it must be accomplished in a span of 2 to 7 years.
Be sure to understand what is required at each phase to insure that all efforts count towards the RPT. If there is too many of anything in any phase, it will not be counted. It is recommended that all play therapists proceed mindfully and keep organized records!

APT Required Play Therapy Observations
APT now requires that 5 total play therapy sessions must be observed by the RPT-S before the RPT credential can be obtained. If Gabrielle Anderson is your supervisor, she will independently watch the play therapy sessions at a rate of $130/hour, will write notes while watching and give them to the supervisee for review. The supervisee will also be required to fill out a questionnaire about the recorded session, which will also be reviewed by Gabrielle. One hour of observation is required during phase one, two hours of observation are required during phase two and two more hours of observation are required during phase three, for a total of five hours of required observed sessions.
